American sprinter Christian Coleman has promised a sharper campaign in 2026 after enduring an average 2025 season.

Coleman, who ended the year with two major titles; gold at both the Diamond League and the World Championships, admitted his overall performance fell short of expectations.

He struggled at key qualification events, finishing fifth in both the 100m and 200m at the US Championships, results that saw him miss out on individual qualification for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

In a recent clip shared on his social media pages, the 28-year-old outlined his strategy for rebuilding ahead of next season, emphasizing technical refinement and patience.

“Even throughout my career, I have felt like I have been so much stronger and physically just more fit. But that is how I know technically, I am right there to go to the next level. So, not trying to compete with the guys out there, but competing with myself. Not feeling like I got to build Rome in a day, but being more patient,” he said in the clip seemingly shot during training.

He went on to note that age has brought a deeper understanding of the effort required to remain competitive.

“As I am getting older, it Is like, it really just does not get easier. You have got to put the work in. That is just one of them things. You gotta put the work in,” he said.

Coleman’s comments come as Richardson also looks to reset after a difficult season marked by recurring injuries that limited her competition schedule.

The former World 100m champion skipped Michael Johnson’s newly introduced Grand Slam Track league, a decision that was mirrored by other top athletes including Noah Lyles.

She secured pre-qualification for the 2026 World Championships based on her 2023 results and her standout individual display this year was a second-place finish in the 100m at the Brussels Diamond League.

She concluded her season on a positive note, anchoring Team USA to gold in the 4x100m relay at the World Championships, helping the quartet clock 41.75 seconds.
