That was the message American sprint sensation Noah Lyles and his fiancée, Jamaican 400m specialist Junelle Bromfield, posted on social media after taking a leap, not on the track this time, but a leap of faith.

On Sunday, 28 September, the couple was baptised together, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives devoted to Christ.

The announcement came just a week after Lyles’ history-making performance at the 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships.

The 28-year-old etched his name deeper into sprinting lore by becoming only the second man, after Usain Bolt, to win four consecutive world titles in the 200m.

He also earned bronze in the 100m with a time of 9.89 seconds and helped the United States secure gold in the 4x100m relay.

While Bromfield did not compete in Tokyo, she was trackside to celebrate her fiancé’s achievements.

Bromfield, who already owns medals from the Olympics, World Indoors, and World Championships in the 4x400m relay, has often been vocal about the unwavering support they give each other.

Now, the pair who live, train, and compete together will also worship together. They chose to keep the name of their church private, but the baptism represents a defining step in their journey as a couple.

Their love story began in 2017 when Bromfield first messaged Lyles on Instagram.

Their first date may not have gone as planned, but it blossomed into a friendship that lasted nearly five years before turning into romance in 2022.

Since then, they have loudly and boldly stood by each other through both challenges and triumphs. Their wedding is planned for 2026.
