The main track events will begin at 2004 EAT
A day after rolling the curtains down on what was an outstanding night for Kenyans in the now concluded World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary by winning the country’s last two medals, the duo of Faith Cherotich and world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech will on Thursday 31 August return to the track once again, but this time in the 2023 Zurich Diamond League.
The two, are just a number of Kenyan athletes coming off this year’s global World Championships in search of a Diamond League win in the event’s 11th round.
Running at Worlds then having to run again at Zurich Diamond League is crazy😭

Joining Chepkoech - who took silver on Sunday night in a time of 8:58.98 - and Cherotich - the winner of her first senior worlds medal that came in the way of bronze - in the women’s 3000m steeplechase will be another World Championships finalist in Jackline Chepkoech and Fancy Cherono
In what is expected to be a great watch, the quartet, and most notably Beatrice Chepkoech, will be eyeing a revenge against Bahraini Winfred Mutile Yavi, who is also in the startlist.
Yavi produced an epic late burst in the women’s steeplechase final on Sunday night to overtake frontrunners Chepkoech and Cherotich on her way to clinching her first World Championships gold medal, while clocking a personal best time of 8:54.29 - one that stands as the fifth fastest time in the event’s history.
Jackline Chepkoech, at the National Athletics Centre on Sunday, finished ninth in a time of 9:14.72.
Another Kenyan athlete making the quick turn-around will be Jacob Krop - bronze medalist in Sunday’s 5000m finals in a time of 13:12.28 - who will turn up in a similar event in the Swiss capital.
🥉🇰🇪 Jacob Krop stands tall on the 5,000m podium for the second consecutive year, proudly claiming the bronze for Kenya. 🏆🔥

While his case might be different - in that he will face neither of Mohamed Katir and Jakob Ingebrightsen who finished ahead of him in Budapest - the Commonwealth Games bronze medalist will be joined by national champion Kyumbe Munguti in a race that will see 2023 World Championships bronze medalist in the 10000m Selemon Barega and among the men he beat on Sunday - Yomif Kejelcha and Guatemala’s Luis Grijlava.
3000m steeplechase silver medalist Lamecha Girma will also line up in the race.
The last of Kenyan athletes in Zurich will be the 1500m duo of Abel Kipsang and World U20 Champion Reynold Kipkorir, who will look to improve on their fourth and eighth place finishes in Budapest, against a strong field that will also see the return of world champion Josh Kerr - the man who famously outdid Jakob Ingebrightsen on the final bend of the 1500m finals last week.
The main track events will begin at 2004 EAT.
