The other Kenyan in the race - Jackline Chepkoech - was ninth in a time of 9:14.72
Kenya garnered her last two medals in the 2023 World Athletics Championships as World record holder Beatrice Chepkoech and World U20 champion Faith Cherotich came in second and third respectively in Sunday night's women's 3000m steeplechase finals at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary.
The national champion clocked 8:58.98 with her younger teammate claiming her first World Championships medal in her debut timing a personal best time of 9:00.69.
The race was however won by Bahraini Winfred Mutile Yavi - who produced an astonishing finish to the race - ultimately timing a world lead time of 8:54.29.

Beatrice Chepkoech, on her bid to reclaim her title won in 2019, looked to be headed to another commanding win midway through the race and all through the 2000m with Cherotich in toe, until the last 500m of the race when Yavi consistently gained, and eventually took the lead, winning her first world crown, which she clearly celebrated.
What a fantastic way to conclude the World Athletic Championship in Budapest, Hungary! We extend our congratulations to Beatrice Chepkoech, who currently holds the Women's 3000m steeplechase record, for winning the Silver medal. For yet another year, Kenya had once again lost the women's title - after surrendering last year's gold to the now suspended Norah Jeruto of Kazakhstan- but gave Kenya a deserved finish to the week and a day long championships in the Hungarian capital.
