
Mozzart Bet pump two million into Chemususu Dam Half Marathon

Eminent guest list including marathon GOAT Eliud Kipchoge, former 800m great Paul Tanui and Ezekiel ‘Baba Yao’ Kemboi will be cheering.
The 7th edition of annual Chemususu Dam Half Marathon, penciled for this Saturday in Baringo County, has gained great momentum after leading gaming firm Mozzart bet pumped two million shillings towards its organization.
Billed among the highest paying half marathon races in the country, current 21k world record holder Kibiwot Kandie will headline the stellar cast of male competitors going toe to toe for the Sh250,000 prize money on offer and a priceless bragging right.
The 26-year-old who posted 57:32 enroute to winning the Barcelona Half Marathon in December 2020 will be rivaled for the male honors by the likes of Leonard Kipkirui and fast rising road racer Bernard Yegon among others.

Defending champion Daniel Mateiko has also cast his hat in the ring setting the stage for a fast, exciting and telling men’s duel.
Race director and former 3000m steeplechase Olympic Champion Mathew Birir has lined up an equally eminent guest list including marathon GOAT Eliud Kipchoge, former 800m great Paul Tanui and Ezekiel ‘Baba Yao’ Kemboi among others who will be cheering the runners at Chemususu Primary School.

Birir urged the droves of athletes taking stabs at the title to uphold sporting integrity by running clean and winning fairly. “This is a call to all participating athletes to ensure they are free of any performance enhancing substances because we want to cheer clean athletes and award fair winners,” said the 1992 Barcelona Olympics steeplechase champion.
He also spoke ambitiously regarding the race’s future, hinting at going international. “We are pleased to be partnering with Mozzart bet on this and hopefully the stature of this race will reach international levels in the not so distant future. It only takes spending organization in adherence to World Athletics standards to attain the stature we desire and with Mozzart Bet working with us I know this dream will be a reality,” added he

Besides the professional 21km races for both men and women, race organizers have scheduled a 5km corporate
The women field was bossed by Evaline Chirchir in the last edition and the 24-year-old has once again confirmed her participation with eyes fully fixed on a repeat title. This time she will have to contend with the highly rated Nandi County duo of Zena Cheptoo Nandi and Nesvine Cheplting.
