He has his sights set on making Team Kenya to Budapest for the World Championships.
Although he has joined Team Kenya to Bathurst for the World Cross Country Championships as a reserve, Kenya Defence Forces' (KDF) Collins Koros is maintaining a positive attitude as he looks to make the best of the season ahead.
Koros is coming off an injury that saw him miss out on the busy 2022 season but is determined to make an impact on his comeback season.
The 32-year old finished seventh at last year’s trials to the World Championships set for 18 February, missing out on a direct ticket to Bathurst but is training with the team as a reserve.
"I do not wish misfortune for any of the top finishers so that I can get my chance to represent the country. I am, however, preparing for any eventuality so that I can be ready if and when called upon.
I am happy to get the chance to train with the national team as this gives my season a big boost ahead of the busy year ahead. I am making the best of this training as I have some competitions lined up after the global championship," offered Koros.
In the event the opportunity to be in Bathurst does not present itself, Koros is likely to be in action at this year's Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Half Marathon on the stunning Al Marjan Island, which lands on the same day as the world cross country event.

Koros was looking forward to trying out for the national team to Oregon for the World Championships last year but a quite unfortunate injury in February sidelined him for the entire season.
"Now I have another chance to work for my dream of competing at the World Championships and I do not want to lose it. The time set for qualification to Budapest in my event 10,000m is quite fast so I have my work cut out.
I am,however, ready for the challenge of making the team and competing on the world stage which will be a dream come true," Koros added.
The team to Bathurst for the World Cross Country event has started training in Embu.
