
Kip Keino Classic to gun off World Athletics Continental Gold Tour in May

The second edition of Kip Keino Classic took place in September and saw Omanyala set a new African record
The third edition of the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi that is set to take place on May 7 will gun off the World Athletics Continental Gold Tour that has eight other meetings planned from May to September.
More than 130 meetings have been included so far in this year’s Tour and will be divided into four levels – Gold, Silver, Bronze and Challenger, with the status of each meeting being determined by the quality of competition and prize money on offer.
The second edition of the Kip Keino Classic and the last leg of the 2021 Calendar attracted a couple of household names from all disciplines.

This year's Kip Keino Classic has been earmarked as the first stop in the 11-leg Gold level meetings for the 2022 World Athletics Continental Tour.

After setting a national and continental record in the 100M, finishing second in the process, Ferdinand Omanyala will be hoping for a better showing at the event, perhaps.
In 2021, 6682 athletes from 147 countries were involved in the Continental Tour, with two world records, 12 area records, 99 national records, and 1377 personal bests set across the 69 meetings.
