The 2023 African Games silver medalist soared to the new record in her third attempt of the night to finish behind Cuba’s Davisleydi Velazco, who took gold after jumping 14.61m.

The new mark for Bii usurped her previous personal best of 14.01m, which she set at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational championships on 15 February.

Bii, the freshly minted NCAA Champion last month, also recorded a similar 14.01m mark at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on 17 May.

“That’s another Kenyan national record for Winny,” the Texas Aggies posted on X after her latest win.

Bii, also an SEC Champion this year, is in her Junior Year in Texas, and will hope that her performance puts her in a suitable position to qualify for this year’s World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

The BIG 12 indoor triple jump champion could gain entry to the 13-21 September event by either gaining an automatic entry standard of 14.55m, or through the world rankings, where she needs to be in the top 36.

As it stands on the Road to Tokyo standings, Bii is currently one place below that quota in 37th place, but without the inclusion of her new personal best.

Seven athletes have so far confirmed their place in Tokyo - one by wildcard and six having hit the entry standard.
