How Usain Bolt saved Vybz Kartel's empire member during cancer battle

Speaking during an interview on The Fix podcast, the singer noted that when Kartel was imprisoned, she struggled to make ends meet, and the diagnosis only added to her woes. That is when she decided to look for Bolt
Former member of Vybz Kartel’s Portmore Empire, Gaza Indu has praised track and field legend Usain Bolt for assisting her with money to start her cancer treatment.
Indu, whose real name is Dashia Muir,, was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 201,4, and she had to seek immediate medical attention.
Speaking during an interview on The Fix podcast, the singer noted that when Kartel was imprisoned, she struggled to make ends meet, and the diagnosis only added to her woes. That is when she decided to look for Bolt.
“Mi did really sick, you know who mi reach out to? And I’m dying for the day I see him. Yesterday, I saw the boss (Vybz Kartel) with him, and I said how mi general deh round Bolt and mi nuh see Bolt yet. Bredda, ah Bolt mi reach out to,” she said.
Determined to get help, Indu began searching for Bolt’s contact information. She reached out to a friend who managed to connect her with Bolt’s ex-girlfriend, eventually obtaining his number. When she finally contacted him, Bolt responded without hesitation.
“I linked one of my friends and said, ‘You don’t have a number for Bolt?’ and they said, ‘You know, I have a number for his ex-girlfriend. Mi a go reach out to her and ask her if she had a number for him’…And I got the number, and I messaged him…At two o’clock in the morning, I hear my phone, and I get up out of my sleep, and when I look at my phone, Bolt replies to me,” Indu said.
She continued: “In the two o’clock morning, me and him start texting. I told him I have cancer, that I found out I have cancer because dem time deh mi get right down, right down, skin and bone.”
By that point, her weight had drastically dropped, and she was on the verge of collapse. That same week, she was admitted to Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) after months of continuous bleeding.
“Right in the same week, after me and him did talk, I ended up in the hospital. When I reach the hospital and the doctor says, ‘You a go down now, you know. You need, need, need to start treatment now because I was bleeding away. I bled for like four or five months straight non-stop.
Indu informed Bolt of her hospitalization, and his response was immediate. Within half an hour, Bolt’s representative arrived at the hospital with the funds she desperately needed.
“And when I reach out to him and tell him seh I’m back in the hospital and he called me and said ‘which hospital you deh?’ and mi tell him seh mi deh KPH but over the Jubilee side and he said ‘which ward you deh pon?’ and mi tell him and he said ‘mi a send somebody come to you right now’ and in less than half an hour the person reached and I got the money from him and that’s how I got to start my treatment,” Indu explained.
“Ah, save him, save me because if I never get that money to do the marking, mi nuh know wah would happen,” she said gratefully.
