Kerley has won two Olympic medals in his career, further revealing he was not happy with his third-place finish in the Summer Games and intends to compete in more Olympics
Olympic bronze medalist Fred Kerley has spoken about his plans for the rest of the 2024 season at the Lausanne Diamond League. The American athlete ran the 100m in the early 2024 season and the Paris Olympics.
After winning the bronze medal in the men's 100m at the Paris Olympics, Kerley returned to the track two weeks later at the Lausanne Diamond League 2024.
He competed in the 200m and finished third behind Letsile Tebogo and Erriyon Knighton.
This was his second 200 race of the season, where he clocked 19.86s to clinch the podium position.
In a post-race interview, Kerley spoke about his ambitions for the rest of the 2024 season and also spoke about his focus on the 200m.
"Second 200 of the season, so I can't complain. I'm going to drop a PB (personal best) in the next 200 I'm in. Just got to feel the race all again.
Been focused on the 100, trying to get the 100 out of the way. I don't miss anything about running the turn. It is not that bad, but if the ankle is weak, the rest is going to be weak," he said.
Kerley has won two Olympic medals in his career, further revealing he was not happy with his third-place finish in the Summer Games and intends to compete in more Olympics.
Moreover, he opened up about his desire to continue competing until he wins the Olympic Gold medal and revealed he has his eyes set on the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
"In Paris, I think I got the job done on that day; that's all I had on that day. I feel like the job's not finished and 2028 is around the corner.
I am not leaving my career without an Olympic gold medal and 2028 is around the corner. But I feel like everything was given on those days at the championships; now on to the next one," he said.
