Kerley has competed in four Diamond League events so far in 2024, with the race in Poland being his very first victory
US sprinter Fred Kerley termed his gold-winning race at the Silesia Diamond League 'trash' even as he announced his entry at the Rome Diamond League set for August 30.
He clocked 9.87s in the 100m to claim victory ahead of Africa's fastest man over the distance Ferdinand Omanyala and Ackeem Blake, who finished second and third respectively.
Kerley competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics and clocked 9.81s in the 100m final to finish with the bronze medal behind Noah Lyles and Kishane Thompson.
The 29-year-old was part of the 4x100m relay team that reached the final but was disqualified due to a botch in baton handover.
The Silesia Diamond League was the first 100m event after the Paris Olympics where he exploded setting a new meet record.
Later, Kerley called his race 'trash' in an X post and announced that the 2024 Rome Diamond League, scheduled for August 30, 2024, would be his next tournament.
"Trash race but on to Rome," his caption read.
In a post-race conversation with FloTrack, Kerley called his race 'sh***y' after not having run with the technicalities in mind.
"I know the race was shi**y as hell. I just ran and not being technically sound, but I know I'm about to get an earful once I get to my phone, " he told Flotrack.
Speaking after his victory in Poland, Kerley spoke about being competitive and taking care of the minor things.
"It's all about getting everything down and getting competitive and getting the small things done," said the 29-year-old, " he added.
Kerley has competed in four Diamond League events so far in 2024, with the race in Poland being his very first victory.
He finished the runner-up in the 100m event in Xiamen while ending third in Shanghai.
The American also competed in the 200m competition in Lausanne earlier this month and finished third after clocking 19.86 seconds.
