This will not be the first time the two-time Olympic champion will be pursuing double glory in a championship as she successfully mined gold in the 1500 and 5000m races in the 2023 Worlds in Budapest

Faith Kipyegon will be in the hunt for double success in Paris Olympic Games after securing a ticket to defend her preferred race, the 1500m

This follows her qualification during the trials staged at the Nyayo National Stadium where, as expected, she showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels on her way to the finish line.

Her victory in the three-and-a-half lap race comes barely a day after punching a 5000m ticket in the opening day of the trials.

This will not be the first time the two-time Olympic champion will be pursuing double glory in a championship as she successfully mined gold in the 1500 and 5000m races in the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.

The record holder confirmed that she had made up her mind as far as participating in two events in Paris.

Although she admitted to being nervous given that this would be her first time doubling at the Paris, she remained confident of replicating her Budapest heroics.

I have made the decision to double in Paris. I am hoping to stay healthy and injury-free. I am nervous as this is my first Olympics to double, but I am excited about the challenge ahead of me. Records are there to be broken but the bigger goal is to win gold at the Olympics,” she said shortly after the win.

Before the trials, the former World silver medalist had to grapple with a muscle setback that saw her withdraw from the Prefontaine Classic.

She however says the trials have given her a clear picture of the ground she has covered since her recovery.

1500m was my main target in the trials. I wanted to run fast and see where I am in terms of preparations. I am pleased with how my Olympic preparations are going well, I am happy with the times I got here,” she added.

Joining Kipyegon in making the team was Nelly Chepchirchir who finished after clocking 3:58.46.

Susan Ejore was third after timing 4:00.22
