Kenyan athletes Faith Kipyegon and Beatrice Chebet were on Sunday 22 September recognized and awarded by the Academy of Achievement in an elaborate ceremony staged at the Lincoln Centre Plaza in New York.
The duo, who were flanked by President William Ruto in receiving the Golden Plate Award, were recognized for their hard work, talent, and dedication to athletics.

The extraordinary honor comes weeks after Pres. Ruto had himself received the Golden Plate Award on Tuesday 12 September.
In the ceremony, Ruto was recognised for his “exceptional leadership in promoting transparency, accountability, and public participation, qualities that have positioned Kenya as a leader in governance innovation across Africa.”
In congratulating Kipyegon and Chebet, the Kenyan president said: “No doubt it [the award] will inspire upcoming athletes and help shape our country’s sports.”
