The long-distance running star revealed that she and her husband welcomed a baby boy on Thursday, 11 June, marking the beginning of what she described as a beautiful new chapter in their lives.
Chebet accompanied the announcement with an adorable infographic featuring photographs of her newborn, including images of his tiny feet and hands, alongside the message: “He’s Here.”
The Olympic and World Championships gold medallist expressed her joy in a heartfelt caption.
“Tiny hands, tiny feet, and a love so big. A beautiful new chapter begins. Welcome to our world sweet little baby boy,” Chebet wrote.

The announcement comes just weeks after Chebet shared photos from a surprise baby shower organised by family and friends.
The celebration was attended by some of Kenya’s biggest athletics personalities, including her close friend and training partner Faith Kipyegon, as well as several members of the country’s athletics fraternity.
Chebet had earlier spoken about feeling blessed to be surrounded by a strong support system as she prepared for motherhood, thanking her family, friends, mentors and fellow athletes for their unwavering love and encouragement.
The birth of her son marks a new milestone in the life of one of Kenya’s most successful athletes. Over the past two seasons, Chebet has established herself as the dominant force in women’s distance running.
In 2024, she made history by becoming the first Kenyan woman to win Olympic gold medals in both the 5,000m and 10,000m at the Paris Olympics.
She followed that achievement with an equally impressive 2025 season, winning the World Championships titles in both events to complete a rare Olympic-World double.
Her achievements also included becoming the first woman in history to break the 14-minute barrier in the 5,000m after clocking 13:58.06 at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene.
The double Olympic champion joins a growing list of Kenyan athletics greats who have successfully balanced family life with elite competition.
Athletes such as Faith Kipyegon, Hellen Obiri, Mary Keitany and Edna Kiplagat all returned to the sport after having children and went on to enjoy remarkable success on the global stage.
