Diamond League: Kenyan-born Yavi crowns spectacular season with DL title

She ran the second fastest time in the world for the win.

From world champion to Diamond League (DL) champion, pronto!

Kenyan-born Bahraini Winfred Mutile Yavi, the recently crowned world champion has added yet another feather to her rown winning the DL 3000m steeplechase title in an amazing display and mastery of the discipline.

Yavi clocked a personal best (PB) time of 8:50.66 to edge out World record holder, Kenya's Beatrice Chepkoech (8:51.67) and World U20 champion Faith Cherotich (8:59.65), the same order in which the three women finished in Budapest at the World Championships.

Yavi's time is not only the fastest in the world this year but also a meeting record, Asian record and best of all the second fastest all time after Chepkoech's world record.
