Young Lionesses squad to Commonwealth Youth Games named

After a round robin format, teams ranked first and second at the close of the pool stage will compete for the gold medal

National U18 girls’ rugby sevens team to the Commonwealth Youth Games taking place from 4 to 11 August in Trinidad and Tobago has been named.

Head coach Sarah Agola, on Thursday 27 July, named 13 for the task ahead with four drawn from Eregi Girls three from St Joseph’s Kitale and a similar number from Hidden Talent Academy.

The Young Lionesses will compete against hosts Trinidad & Tobago, Canada, Wales, Australia and Fiji at the rugby sevens competition which runs between 6 and 8 August on a round robin format that will see the teams ranked first and second at the close of the pool, competing for the gold medal.

The teams in third and fourth will battle for the bronze medal while the last two teams will compete for fifth place.
