Chipu who were coming off a 24-7 defeat at the hands of Uruguay in the opening pool match will be looking to bounce back when they lock horns with the USA in the final match slated for Friday, July 12, 2024.

Kenya's U20 rugby team, Chipu, suffered a heavy defeat in their second World Rugby U20 Trophy pool match played at the Hive Stadium in Scotland.

The Dutch side proved too strong, securing a convincing 51-3 victory.

The Netherlands wasted no time in asserting their dominance, scoring within the opening two minutes through scrum-half Niek Doornenbal. Their relentless pressure continued, extending their lead to 15 points thanks to a converted try and a penalty.

Kenya's struggles deepened when a yellow card to second-row Clein Omukhulu left them a man down. The Dutch capitalized ruthlessly, scoring two more tries before halftime to take a commanding 33-3 lead. James Olela managed a penalty for Kenya, but it was a mere consolation in a dominant first half for the Netherlands.

The second half saw a more resilient Kenyan defense, but the Netherlands eventually added to their lead through a well-executed counter-attack. Substitute winger Flynn Baker put the finishing touches on the Dutch victory with a try late in the game.

Despite missing some kicks, the Netherlands' full-back Ilan Vaasen's overall performance was strong. This win keeps their hopes of reaching the final alive in their tournament debut. While Kenya will be disappointed with the result, they will look to regroup and learn valuable lessons for their remaining matches.
