The call-up is a well-earned reward for the three Leos players, who were instrumental in their club’s strong National 7s Circuit campaign.

In particular, Victor Mola Odhiambo stood out as one of the most consistent performers of the season, finishing as both the top try scorer and the top points scorer.

c, where he managed five and three tries, respectively.

His attacking brilliance played a pivotal role in helping Strathmore Leos secure second place in the overall circuit standings.

The Morans squad, captained by Menengai Oilers’ forward John Okoth, features a mix of seasoned and emerging talent.

Among the debutants are Daniel Kipchirchir of Oilers, who enjoyed a stellar season that helped his club clinch an overall third-place finish, and Rayvon Ambale of Kabras RFC, who was equally impressive in the circuit.

Other first-timers include David Nyangige (Impala RFC), Clinton Amukwachi (Daystar University), and Arnold Agonda, alongside the Strathmore trio.

Meanwhile, the Shujaa squad, Kenya’s senior sevens side, remains largely unchanged as they seek to defend their Safari 7s crown.

KCB Rugby duo George Ooro and Samuel Asati will co-captain the team, leading a star-studded lineup featuring Kevin Wekesa, Vincent Onyala, Gabriel Ayimba, and Nygel Amaitsa.

Shujaa will be chasing a fourth consecutive title, having completed a historic three-peat in 2024 after defeating Shogun Rugby 12–0 in Machakos.

That triumph made them the first team to win three straight Safari 7s titles since Kenya’s dominant run between 2008 and 2010.

The Morans also impressed last year, finishing third after a convincing 26–5 victory over Zimbabwe Cheetahs, avenging earlier losses at the All-Africa Games and Africa Men’s 7s.

This year’s edition promises top-tier competition. Shujaa’s title defence will be tested by regional powerhouses Zimbabwe and Uganda, both eager to dethrone the hosts. Zambia, Reunion, and Walukuba Barbarians (Uganda) will inject fresh competition, while invitational sides such as Shogun Rugby, French Renegades, UK Select, and Apache Rugby will add international flair.

Kenyan club champions KCB RFC, coming off a strong National 7s Circuit campaign, will also compete.

The women’s category will feature eight teams, headlined by defending champions Costa Blanca Barbarians, who will battle it out against Belgium, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Shogun Rugby, Kenya Lionesses 1, and Kenya Lionesses 2.
