Kabras Sugar lead arch rivals KCB by just two points in the standings.
The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has released pools for the penultimate round of the division one men’s competition of the third leg of the National 7s Circuit, Tisap 7s, scheduled for the Eldoret Sports Club from September 2–3.
Pool A has Christie 7s defending champions KCB Rugby, their Thika-Road opponents Blak Blad, Homeboyz RFC, and Mombasa RFC. KCB will be looking to extend their impressive run. They currently sit at position two on the log with 78 points, two points behind Kabras RFC, who top the table.
Blak Blad, too, joined the top guns in the quarterfinals of the Christie 7s and will be keen to stage a show in this pool. Homeboyz are equally a force to be reckoned with in this pool after their series of good performances.
Pool B has Strathmore Leos, Menengai Oilers, Catholic Monks, and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) Rugby. The Oilers have an uncertain task in this pool against resilient varsity sides.
With Kabras Sugar leading arch rivals KCB by just two points in the standings, it promises to be a thrilling weekend of sevens rugby as the quest to be crowned Kenyan club sevens champions in 2023 goes a notch higher.
In Pool C, log leaders Kabras Sugar RFC will square it out with Kenya Harlequins, Daystar Falcons, and Kisumu RFC. Felix Ayange’s charges will be keen to broaden the gap between them and KCB Rugby. The Quins, on the other hand, will be keen to improve their Christie 7s performance.
Nakuru RFC have been placed in pool D alongside Mwamba RFC, UOE Trojans, and Nondescripts. The Trojans will be playing in the top tier in their hometown. Nakuru RFC recorded their highest-ever performance in Christie 7s, picking up 15 points. They will be looking to pick up from there.
The Tisap 7s playing schedules and division two pools will be released in subsequent communications.
It will be the first time the Tisap 7s will be held in Eldoret. The tournament replaced Kakamega 7s, whose last edition happened in July 2022.
