Shujaa are in Pool D alongside Argentina, Ireland and Canada.
The national men’s sevens side, Shujaa have revealed their squad for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series season opener with Dennis Abukuse and George Ooro set to make their debuts.
Shujaa landed a fiendish Pool D where they are set to face Argentina, Ireland and Canada in the Hong Kong 7s as they hope to start the campaign on a high after surviving relegation by the skin of their teeth last season.
Head coach Damian McGrarth has trusted Ooro with a place in his team following an impressive season in the National Sevens Circuit where he was named in the overall Team of the Season after his exploits for Strathmore Leos who finished third.
Ooro was among the standout performers in the Leos team with his hard hitting and direct style of rugby helping the team clinch the Christie 7s and were in contention for the overall title until their poor Kakamega 7s season ender cost them.
Abukuse was also in the fray of the Team of the Season as he was a vital cog in the well-oiled Menengai Oilers team that upset the odds to clinch their maiden Sevens Circuit title to mark the team's first major title.
Alvin Otieno who missed the Rugby Sevens World Cup was not included in the squad after he joined Eastman Warriors Rugby Club in Canada.
Daniel Taabu is however back in the squad after missing the Rugby World Cup with Vincent Onyala returning after withdrawing from the Kenya 15s squad.
Hong Kong 7s is set to kick off on Friday 4 November.
