Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) have been ordered to reinstate and allow its suspended Honorable Secretary Raymond Olendo to attend Friday’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

Olendo has moved to the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) to challenge his suspension barely five months after the Union conducted its elections which saw Alexander ‘Sasha’ Mutai elected chairman.

All has, allegedly, not been well in the Union and the suit filed by Olendo threatens to lay bare the infighting in KRU.

The SDT chairman John Ohaga has ordered the Union to allow Olendo to attend Friday’s executive meeting as the Secretary even as he promised that the tribunal would deal with any governance gaps if there are any.

The matter came up for mention this week with Olendo complaining to the SDT that its orders to reinstate him had not been adhered to fully.

However, the Union objected insisting they had complied with the orders fully. The Union informed the tribunal they could not reinstate Olendo as a member of the Finance and Administrative Committee as demanded by the Secretary.

“A committee member can be changed at any time and appointed to serve in other committees and not reinstating him to that particular committee is not a breach of the orders of this tribunal,” said the Union.

But Olendo countered insisting that as Secretary of the Union, he is automatically a Finance and Administrative Committee member.

The matter has been set for hearing on January 17, 2024.
