Shujaa will be looking to improve on their seventh-place finish registered in the Dubai Sevens tournament with head coach Innocent Simiyu opening up on the areas that need tightening.

HSBC World Seven Series calendar had two tournaments slated for Dubai with this weekend being the second tournament after curtains opened on the season last weekend.

With the congested fixture schedule, Simiyu noted their have been focusing on player recovery and worked on tightening their loose ends following the opening tournament.

“Our preparations leading to tournament two in Dubai has been largely centred around player recovery, ensuring that all our players have recovered 100%,”

“We have addressed a few areas of concern in our game around our attacking shape, kick-off area and possession, our key target is to improve on our performance across the board and hopefully we can get better results from that,” said Simiyu.

Shujaa secured a place in the main cup quarter-finals but back to back losses to Ireland and Great Britain saw them finish seventh with 10 points on the log.

Simiyu however admitted that he was contented with the performance last weekend and is looking to use the season as build preparation for the Sevens Rugby World Cup.

“We are satisfied with the team's overall performance in the first World Sevens Series tournament in Dubai having managed to secure 10 points. We have a long season ahead culminating with the World Cup and we believe we have a very good platform to build on,” added Simiyu.
