Reigning champions KCB handed Kabras their first and only defeat of the 2021/2022 season
For every dark cloud, there is always a silver lining as they say.
Following Kabras’ loss against reigning champions KCB over the past weekend, experienced Kenya 15s international Daniel Sikuta has called on his side to draw motivation from that defeat as the team continues with their aim of breaking the Bankers’ four year dominance in the top flight scene.
In the final regular season ending fixture staged at the KCB Sports Club on Saturday afternoon, the Bankers had their first laugh in the top of the table encounter as they recorded a 28-20 victory against the sugar millers consequently bringing to an end their ten match winning streak and their unbeaten run in the 2021/2022 campaign.
As the team now prepares to start another fight for the title that has evaded them since their maiden triumph back in 2016, Sikuta has challenged his side to not allow KCB have the last laugh yet again after the stunning manner in which the Curtis Olago coached side came from behind to steal last season’s title from their noses.
“In the game against KCB, we came to build on what we are going to do specifically in the playoffs. It was the final league tie and we saw our mistakes from kickoff to the final whistle. We know they beat us in the regular game and we just need to go back and build on the performance. The lose will hopefully serve as motivation for us. We need to be mentally ready and just have a greater attitude as we continue to keep grinding,” the player told Mozzart Sport.

On Saturday, a title chasing Kabras will however have to deal with enterprising Strathmore Leos in the Kenya Cup semis if they are to have a shot at revenge and a chance of ending their five year wait for a title.
Reigning champions KCB will host Menengai Oilers in the other semifinal duel.
