The Spanish city will host the fourth outing of the 2021/2022 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series

The men’s national rugby 7s side Shujaa have been drawn in a tricky Pool D ahead of the fourth HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series outing of the 2021/2022 season that is set to take place in Seville, Spain from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 January 2022.

The Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu coached side have been pooled against Australia, Canada and Scotland.

After a poor showing in the first outing of the New Year 2022 where the team finished last in the Malaga 7s tournament held last weekend, the men’s team will be seeking to make up for their performances when action kicks off at the Estadio La Cartuja de Sevilla this weekend.

The last place finish ensured that Shujaa only collected one point in Malaga and consequently dropped to ninth on the log where they sit on 23 points.

In Pool A which only has three teams due to Fiji’s Covid-19 enforced absence, blazing South Africa are pooled alongside USA and Spain.

The Blitzboks extended their lead on the overall log for the season after winning their fifth consecutive HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series tournament, and will enter the weekend's HSBC Spain Sevens event in Seville as first seeds and on a 29-match winning streak.

Pool B has Malaga 7s runners up Argentina, Ireland and invitational sides Germany and Jamaica.

Pool C has Malaga bronze medalists England who will face off against France, Wales and Japan.
