
Seville 7s: Shujaa narrowly edge Spain to finish ninth

The National Rugby Sevens team, Shujaa needed extra time to beat a stubborn Spain 24-19 in the ninth place playoff of the Seville 7s held at the Olympic Cartuja Stadium.
Shujaa who had a poor outing of the tournament had prevailed 25-7over Germany in the semifinals but found the going a little bit tough against Spain who pushed the game to a tie inside regular time.
Vincent Onyala got Shujaa underway in the first minute when he touched down with Anthony Omondi adding the extras from the conversion.

Spain evened the scores through Pol Pla's in the eighth minute try and would go ahead in two minutes later when Tiago Romero breached the Shujaa defence to score a try. Juan Martinez had successful conversions for both tries.
The duo of Jeff Oluoch and Johnstone Olindi ensured dragged Shujaa level in the 12th minute with the try and conversion respectively.

Manu Moreno crossed the line a minute later to complicate Kenya's chances of finishing ninth but Daniel Taabu made it more interesting as he landed in the final seconds of the match forcing the winner to be determined in the extra time.
Kevin Wekesa settled the contest when he scored a try in the 17th minute. Shujaa will be hoping for an improved show in the Vancouver Sevens set for 16-17 of April.
