A litany of errors and lackluster display condemned Egerton Wasps to a humiliating loss at the hands of unrelenting Mean Machine

University of Nairobi outfit Mean Machine moved a step closer to top-flight promotion when they ruthlessly crushed ambitious by feeble Egerton Wasps 37-0 at UoN grounds.

Leading 19-0 at half time, Mean Machine cruised to an easy victory over the out of sorts Egerton Wasps in to move into last stage of Kenya Cup qualification for upcoming season.

Festus Shiasi drilled home a penalty to give the 1977,1989 and 1990 Kenya Cup champions a 3-0 lead.

Grevis Onyino’s unconverted try made it 8-0 before Trevor Asina’s penalty gave Machine the 11-0 lead. Asina drilled home another penalty after Lawrence Ndung’u’s try to put Machine 19-0 up at the break.

Second half tries from Marvin Karungii and Bruce Odhiambo alongside two penalties and a conversion from Asina gave Machine the win.

They will now travel to Kakamega to play MMUST for a slot in the 2021 Kenya Cup.

Strathmore Leos will host Northern Suburbs in the other qualification match next weekend.

Suburbs proceeded to the clash against Strathmore after USIU Martials pulled out of their fixture slated for Saturday 6 February.
