Resolute Kabras Sugar spank KCB to win the Enterprise Cup

Kabras Sugar RFC sealed their 2021/2022 15's season with a memorable cup double as they defeated KCB RFC 9-6 in the finale to lift the 2022 Enterprise Cup, adding onto their Kenya Cup title.

In the closely contested duel staged at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday afternoon, South African flyhalf Ntabeni Dukisa rose to the occassion as he converted three penalties that ended up securing the hard fought slim win in a match that was dictated by the boot after both sides failed to score any try.

While Smith Muhoya scored two penalties for the Bankers, it proved not to be enough as they ended the season without any trophy to their name in the 2021/2022 season.

In the match, it is KCB who started on the higher ground as they camped deep into Kabras territory in the opening minutes of the clash.

However, for all their early dominance, the sugarmillers managed to swing the tide in their favour as they got the first chance at scoring points when an infringement was called on a KCB player who failed to roll away.

Dukisa stepped up to take the ensuing penalty but his kick just veered slightly to the left as the board remained scoreless.

On a second penalty invitation, Dukisa this time gave his side a 3-0 lead after splitting the upright with a successful attempt.

In a game that lacked fluidity due to the numerous stops and starts, the Bankers managed to find their response as Muhoya successfully converted a KCB penalty to restore parity to 3-3 which was held into the break.

In the second half, smart defending from Kabras nullified the threat of KCB's big and powerful men as KCB also stood firm in their defending.

With points hard to come by, KCB manged to take a 3-6 lead after Muhoya drilled in a second penalty but a determined Kabras managed to stay close as they equalized and retook the lead through two Dukisa penalty conversions which ended up being the match winner, earning KCB the cup honours, the bragging rights and the season double.
