
Prodigious Patrick Odongo dreams of donning Shujaa jersey

The 19 year old was named in the overall 2022 Team of the Series in what was his debut 7s campaign
Daystar Falcons' fast rising rugby sensation Patrick Odongo has revealed that it would be a dream come true for him when he gets the chance to play for the men's national rugby 7s side Shujaa.
In the concluded 2022 National Sevens Circuit campaign which made its return to the country after a two year hiatus, the talented youngster was one of the revelations to be unearthed by the local circuit with rugby fans according him high praise.

As a matter of fact, the 19 year old caught the eye so much that he was included in the overall Team of the Series released by Kenya Rugby Union in his debut 7s campaign.
Following the spate of exemplary performances throughout the season, the fleet footed Agoro Sare alumnus got an invite to try out at Shujaa where he trained alongside the senior members of the squad including his role model Nelson Oyoo who is the current Shujaa captain, a relishing experience the winger would love to make permanent.
“I enjoyed the opportunity I was given to be with the senior team. These are guys I used to see on the television but just getting to train with them was inspiring and I really learnt a lot. I have always wished to get the opportunity to play for Shujaa and that would be a dream come true for me when I get the chance to finally play,” the player told Mozzart Sport.

Word in the rugby circles that Mozzart Sport can confirm has it that the youngster will make his debut for the team as soon as the 2023 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series Circuit with head coach Damian McGrath and his assistant Kevin Wambua said to be huge admirers of his talent.
The youngster has also been subsequently been involved in Shujaa’s training sessions with the coach keen to ease him onto the global stage which is a different ball game altogether.
