Nakuru derby is on the cards as defending Prinsloo champions Menengai Oilers have been drawn against Nakuru RFC in Pool B.

Kabras Sugar RFC have been seeded first for the third round of the 2023 National 7s Circuit, the Prinsloo 7s, taking place at the Nakuru Athletic Club on 5-6 August 2023.

The Kakamega based side, who also lead the standings after the opening two rounds in Kisumu and Mombasa, are in Pool A alongside Kisumu, Homeboyz and Western Bulls.

Reigning circuit and Prinsloo defending champions Menengai Oilers headline Pool B which also features Nondescript, hosts and city rivals Nakuru as well as the Catholic Monks.

KCB are in Pool C with Kenya Harlequin, Masinde Muliro and Blak Blad as Strathmore Leos, Mwamba, Daystar Falcons and Zetech Oaks make up Pool D.

The 7s Circuit will be making its return in Nakuru after taking a three week break to pave way for the just concluded 2023 World Rugby U20 Trophy that took place at the Nyayo National Stadium from 15-30 July.

Nakuru will also mark the opening circuit of the three-legged women’s series confirmed by Kenya Rugby Union.

Nakuru will be the first port of call when the Prinsloo 7s takes place at the Nakuru Athletic Club before paving the way for the Christie 7s that will be staged a week later at the RFUEA ground.

The final appearance at the George Mwangi Kabeberi 7s will take place on 9/10 September 2023.

The 2022 edition saw three winners from the three legs as Nakuru won at Kabeberi, Mwamba at Christie and Impala at Prinsloo, as Kulabu, who had also won the women’s Kenya Cup, wrapped up the year’s clean sweep by lifting the overall 7s circuit title.

The order of play and the division order of play will be released in subsequent communications.
