Nondescripts RFC will square off against defending champions Menengai Oilers in the 2025 Impala Floodlit final after both sides registered impressive semi-final victories at the Impala Club on Saturday, November 1.
Nondies, chasing a third consecutive appearance in the final, overcame hosts Impala RFC 25–19 in a tense and physical encounter, while the Oilers proved too strong for Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad, cruising to a 37–21 victory earlier in the day.
The Red Lions came into the contest determined to avenge last year’s 9–6 semi-final defeat to the Gazelles, and they made their intent clear from the onset.
After trading early penalties with Impala’s Quinto Ongo, Nondies began to take control, with Charles Omondi finishing off a well-worked move to score the first try and give his side a 13–3 halftime lead.
Early in the second half, Charles Odhiambo capitalised on a charged-down clearance to score under the posts, stretching Nondies’ advantage.
Impala, however, showed resilience, responding with a converted try after a strong forward drive, before Ongo landed a booming 50-metre penalty to narrow the gap to 20–13.
As the hosts pushed for an unlikely comeback, Nondies punished them with a late try in the right corner, effectively sealing a 25–19 victory and their spot in the final.
Oilers march On
In the earlier semi-final, defending champions Menengai Oilers continued their fine Floodlit form with a dominant display over Blak Blad.
The Nakuru-based side stormed into a 24–6 lead within the opening 22 minutes through tries from Timothy Okwemba, Samuel Were, Victor Were, and Elkens Musonye, capitalising on Blad’s defensive lapses.
Blad managed to stay within reach through Enock Oduor’s penalties, but Oilers’ physicality and tactical discipline proved decisive.
Despite a spirited second-half effort from Blad, who added two converted tries, the Oilers remained in control, adding a penalty and a close-range try to seal a commanding 37–21 win.
