Originally, six fixtures had been scheduled, but the clash between Kabras RFC and Strathmore Leos was brought forward to Friday, January 16, to allow the Leos time to attend the burial of their lock, Felix ‘Chano’ Odhiambo.

Chano passed away on Friday, January 2, while undergoing treatment after sustaining severe injuries in a road accident on Thursday night, December 31, 2025. Reports indicate the talented forward was hit by a car and rushed to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Nondescripts vs KU Blak Blad

4.00 p.m. | Ngong Racecourse

Fresh from claiming Ngong Road derby bragging rights, Nondescripts will host Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad in what promises to be an entertaining encounter.

Nondies are coming off a morale-boosting 32-22 victory over Kenya Harlequin, their second win of the season, and will be keen to extend their winning run. Blak Blad, meanwhile, will be chasing a fourth win of the campaign after seeing off fellow students MMUST Rugby last weekend.

The last meeting between the two sides was on Saturday, February 24, 2025, when Nondies edged Blad 22-10.

KCB Rugby vs Kenya Harlequin

4.00 p.m. | KCB Sports Club

Former champions KCB Rugby welcome Kenya Harlequin to the KCB Sports Club later in the afternoon, with the Bankers keen to maintain their momentum.

KCB are fresh from a convincing 43-19 win over Nakuru RFC and will enjoy home advantage as they look to extend their winning run. Quins, on the other hand, will be seeking a quick response after last weekend’s defeat to Nondescripts.

The last time the two sides met was on Saturday, February 2, 2025, when Quins, then coached by former Kenya Sevens tactician Paul Murunga, registered a 38-16 victory.

Menengai Oilers vs Nakuru RFC

4.00 p.m. | ASK Showground, Nakuru

The weekend’s headline fixture will be the Nakuru derby as unbeaten Menengai Oilers host Nakuru RFC.

Oilers sit second on the log with 20 points, level with leaders Kabras RFC but separated by points difference. The Gibson Weru-coached side will be gunning for a fifth straight win after thrashing Strathmore Leos 66-8 in their last outing.

Nakuru, meanwhile, come into the derby licking their wounds following a 43-19 loss to KCB Rugby and will be eager to bounce back on home soil.

The last meeting between the two sides, on Saturday, January 12, 2025, saw the Oilers claim a 32-15 victory.

MMUST RFC vs Impala RFC

4.00 p.m. | Masinde Muliro University

MMUST Rugby will be chasing their first win of the season when they host Impala RFC at the university grounds.

Since earning promotion back to the Kenya Cup, the students have endured a tough start, losing to Kabras RFC, Blak Blad, and Kenya Harlequin, and currently sit 10th on the log without a point. Impala, who are ninth, will also be eager to climb the table as they hunt for their second win of the season after opening the year with a victory over Daystar Falcons.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides since 2021, when MMUST last featured in the Kenya Cup and edged Impala 21-12.

Daystar Falcons vs Kisumu RFC

4.00 p.m. | Daystar University, Athi River

At the bottom end of the table, Daystar Falcons and Kisumu RFC will square off in a crucial clash as both sides search for their first win of the season.

Kisumu are coming off a heavy 74-10 defeat to Kabras RFC, while the Falcons were beaten by Impala last weekend. With both teams yet to register a victory, the encounter is shaping up as a must-win battle in the fight to climb away from the foot of the standings.
