Daystar and Zetech University will play in the Championship next season.

Following a gloomy season, Top Fry Nakuru had something to smile about as their junior side clinched the Mwamba Cup beating Strathmore Leos II while Daystar and Zetech University punched a ticket to the KRU Championship.

The Nakuru-based club booked a place in the final of the tournament after earning a walkover against Kabras Sugar II in the semis while Strathmore also enjoyed a similar fate against KCB RFC in the other last four encounter.

Nakuru II were set for an away clash against Kabras but the Sugar Millers pulled out of the tournament in the eleventh hour while KCB II pulled out as they had a friendly against Kenya Chipu.

Mwamba Cup is the "Enterprise version" for the second-tier teams, that play in the Eric Shirley tournament with Strathmore unable to repeat their 2019 heroics when they won the title as they fell to Nakuru II at the Nakuru Athletic Club.

2022 Nationwide Semis

University sides continue to dominate Kenyan rugby with Zetech and Daystar University earning promotion to the KRU Championship following wins over Kitale RFC and Mombasa RFC respectively.

Daystar Falcons sailed into the final in the semis that was staged at the Athi River campus as they managed to register a shutout against 1997 Enterprise Cup champions Mombasa RFC courtesy of tries from Eric Miheso and Joashua Ngomeli.

Zetech managed to edge Kitale RFC in a point point game to seal a Nationwide final against Daystar but have already secured a place in the Championship.
