The George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial 7s that will be hosted by Mwamba RFC will roll down the curtains of the 2023 National 7s Circuit.
Following a pulsating weekend at the Eldoret Sports Club, teams will now head to the RFUEA Grounds from September 9-10 for the much-anticipated Kabeberi 7s.
The George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial 7s that will be hosted by Mwamba RFC will roll down the curtains of the 2023 National 7s Circuit.
In Pool A, Tisap 7s champions Nondies RFC will square it out with fellow Nairobians; Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad, Kenya Harlequins, and Tessen Warriors. This will be a closely contested pool as the Quins will be looking to bounce back from their Tisap 7s heartbreak. For the first time in the 2023 circuit, Quins missed a slot in the quarterfinals.
Nondies on the other hand will be looking to extend their winning streak and claim another title, this time close to home. Tessen Warriors will be making their maiden NSC appearance while Blak Blad will be looking to build on their performance and go past the quarterfinals stage.
In Pool B, Strathmore Leos will lock horns with Kisumu RFC, Nakuru RFC, and Impala RFC. Strathmore Leos will be looking to win the title after two final appearances in Christie 7s and Tisap 7s. Kisumu too have not gone past the quarterfinal stage and will be looking to break the curse. Nakuru RFC will be in the hunt for consistency after mixed performances in the past legs.
Poll C will have wounded Kabras RFC, Mwamba RFC, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, and Daystar Falcons. Kabras RFC will be on a revenge mission against Mwamba RFC who eliminated them from title contention at the Tisap 7s quarterfinals. The students; Daystar Falcons and MMUST Rugby will also be looking for maximum points in this pool.
In Pool D, newly promoted Moi University Arsonists will have an uphill task against Menengai Oilers, KCB Rugby, and Catholic Monks. The Arsonists earned their Division II promotion courtesy of an impressive home show at Tisap 7s where they lost 21-19 to USIU in the finals of the Division II category.
