The Nakuru-based side entered the clash eager to hold onto the crown they clinched last year, while Nondies were chasing their first Floodlit triumph since 2012.

The Rangers had suffered heartbreak in recent editions, having fallen short in the 2022 and 2023 finals against KCB.

Oilers, under coach Gibson Weru, wasted no time stamping their authority. Captain Ibrahim Ayoo led from the front with an early try just four minutes into the match.

Nondies had an opportunity to respond shortly after, but Bruce Odhiambo’s penalty drifted wide, allowing the defending champions to maintain their slender advantage.

The Oilers extended their lead seven minutes later when Chrispine Shitundo crossed the line for a converted try, putting them 12-0 ahead.

Nondies hit back through Ryan Odrua, who grounded their first try to narrow the gap to 12-7. Oilers, however, responded swiftly with another try to make it 17-7.

Odrua’s second try reignited Nondies’ hopes, trimming the deficit to five points, but Oilers’ forward dominance once again came to the fore.

A well-executed lineout maul saw Aturo bag his second try, converted by Omela, to take the tally to 24 points.

Odhiambo managed to slot in a penalty late in the first half, keeping Nondies within touching distance at the break.

The Rangers returned from halftime rejuvenated, and their persistence paid off when Lamec Ambetsa finished off a superb move on the wing, reducing the scoreline to 24-20 and setting up a tense finish.

However, the Oilers’ composure and pace proved decisive. Winger Beldad Ogeta delivered the moment of the match, slicing through the Nondies' defence and sprinting 40 metres to touch down a brilliant solo try that restored a comfortable nine-point cushion.

A late penalty just before the 70th minute sealed the deal for the Oilers, who held firm to claim a 32-20 victory and back-to-back Floodlit titles.
