Lionesses, Shujaa squads for Rugby Africa Women's Cup and Hong Kong 7s to be named on Wednesday

The traveling squads for the Kenya women's fifteens national team, Kenya Lionesses, set to do duty at the Rugby Africa Women's Cup as well as that of the men's national sevens team, Shujaa who will be in action at the Hong Kong 7s are set to be named on Wednesday morning.

In a communique, Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) stated that the event is slated for 10 AM at the RFUEA Grounds, Ngong Road with the respective coaches Dennis Mwanja for Lionesses and Damian McGrath for Shujaa revealing the squads that will jet out of the country.

The 2022 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup Pool B competition is scheduled to take place in Kampala, Uganda with Lionesses coming up against hosts Uganda and Zambia in a round-robin format competition.

The team that emerges top of the three will advance to next year’s Pool A which has continental champions South Africa, Zimbabwe. and Namibia.

The Lionesses will begin their campaign with a clash against Zambia at 4 pm on Saturday 29 October before playing hosts Uganda at 4 pm on Wednesday 2 November.

The Hong Kong 7s, which will mark the start of the 2023 World Rugby 7s season, will be making its return to the calendar for the first time after a two-year absence enforced by the coronavirus pandemic.

Shujaa is drawn in a tricky Pool D against Ireland, Argentina, and Canada.
