Leos have not managed a victory against Kabras in the two sides' last five meetings
Strathmore Leos head coach Louis ‘Fadhee’ Kisia has cut an upbeat figure ahead of his team’s Kenya Cup semifinal tie against Kabras Sugar that is set for Saturday afternoon at the Nandi Bears club in Nandi.
Going into the game against Kabras who finished the round robin group phase 2021 rugby season without tasting defeat in the ten games they played, Leos have the underdog tag strapped around their necks as they secured a playoff date with the millers after a fourth place finish in their overachieving first season from the championship. What is more, Leos have failed to record any win between the two sides’s last five meetings.

They meet again in Saturday's #KenyaCup semis
Strathmore Leos 9-35 Kabras RFC
Kabras RFC 54-7 Strathmore Leos
Strathmore 13-62 Kabras RFC
Kabras RFC 43-13 Strathmore Leos
Kabras RFC 44-13 Strathmore Leos
Still, Kisia maintained that his team are not fazed by the occasion and are going for nothing short of a win to end their nine year wait of making it to the cup finals as the last time they achieved that feat was in 2013 where they lost to Nakuru RFC.
“Kabras are definitely the favourites as they are a top seasoned side. We will definitely go in as underdogs but that will not be the case in the match. Rugby is a game of chances and we have prepared in a way that we are just focused on getting the win. Be it three points or seven points, we are definitely going for a win.”

“The mood in camp is very upbeat and the boys are very ecstatic and eager to go. It has been nine years since the last time that Leos was in the final. We went back to the game that they beat us and we have rectified on the areas that let us down at that time. We have altered our game to ensure that Kabras have pressure from minute one to the last,” the head coach told Mozzart Sport.
The match kicks off at 1400 EAT.
