In a letter seen by Mozzart Sport on Tuesday, 10 June, Van Hoek expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to serve on the board, stating that her appointment, which began on May 8 2023, had reached its end and she would not seek to extend her tenure.
"It has been a privilege to be part of an organisation so deeply rooted in the growth and development of rugby in Kenya," she wrote.
Van Hoek, who is also the Managing Director of Advance Public Relations & Marketing, brought her wealth of experience in communication and leadership to the Union.
During her time at KRU, she served as Chair of the Communication and PR Committee and co-chaired the newly launched KRU Women’s Rugby Committee alongside John Kilonzo.
The Women's Rugby Committee focused on strengthening the visibility of the sport, enhancing the welfare of players, and laying down a framework for its sustainable growth.
Van Hoek played a central role in marketing and strategic networking efforts aimed at elevating the women's game.
Her appointment was seen as a reflection of KRU’s commitment to promoting women’s participation in rugby at all levels.
Together with Kilonzo, she engaged stakeholders in expanding the reach of the sport, unlocking new opportunities for female players, and ensuring that Kenya’s women’s teams continued to perform on the global stage.
Though her tenure on the board has come to a close, Van Hoek reaffirmed her dedication to supporting the game beyond boardroom roles.
"I remain a passionate rugby fan and will continue to support KRU and the sport in every way I can," she concluded.
