The 7s Ciruit failed to take place in the country for the last two years due to the novel coronavirus pandemic
The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has made changes to the dates of the returning National 7s Series Circuit that will be making its comeback to the country after a two-year hiatus.
Initially scheduled to start on the weekend of 7/8 May this year, the start of the 2022 National Sevens Circuit has been pushed back by two weeks and will now kick off on Saturday 21 May with the George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial 7s getting things underway in the circuit.
The circuit will still maintain the traditional six rounds starting with the opening two legs of the Kabeberi and Christie Sevens before heading to Kakamega, Mombasa, Kisumu and Nakuru for the subsequent legs.
Although the venue for the Kabeberi Sevens is yet to be confirmed, the Christie leg will be held at the RFUEA Grounds a week later.
After the first two legs, teams will be handed a one-week break to recuperate before heading for the Kakamega 7s at the Bull Ring on Saturday 11 June with Mombasa’s Driftwood Sevens being the centre of action the following week.
Another one-week break will be handed to teams before heading over to Kisumu for Dala Sevens with the action culminating in Nakuru the following weekend for the Prinsloo Sevens.
Should the schedule have remained as it was, the Prinsloo 7s, planned for 25/26 June initially, would have clashed with the World Rally Championship that is going to be held in Naivasha from 23-26 June.
Great changes by Kenya Rugby to avoid Prinsloo 7s clashing with WRC rally in Naivasha. Nakuru will now host the final leg of the National sevens circuit. https://t.co/HdOfGxd08T
