
KRU release revised dates for National Sevens Circuit

The final leg will be the Kabeberi Memorial 7s set for Nairobi's RFUEA Grounds on the weekend of 9-10 September
The Kenya Rugby Union has on Tuesday, 13 June, revised the dates for the National Sevens Circuit days after they announced the postponement of what should have been the opening leg - the Tisap 7s - initially scheduled for 24 June in Eldoret.
The changes will now see the circuit kick off on 1 July with the opening round being the Dala 7s set to be staged at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu City.

Tisap 7s - the leg that Mozzart Sport reported to have been postponed to accommodate the prestigious 70th edition of the World Rally Championships (WRC) Safari Rally scheduled for the same dates in Naivasha, will be played on 2 September at the Eldoret Sports Club.
As per the communique, Mombasa will host the second round of the circuit - The Driftwood 7s set to be played at the Mombasa Sports Club before teams go for a break to pave way for the World Rugby U20 Trophy taking place in Nairobi on 15-30 July.
Nakuru City will then host the Prinsloo 7s - the third leg - at the Prinsloo 7s at the Nakuru Athletic Club on 5 August before Nairobi’s RFUEA Ground hosts the Christie 7s on 12 August.
Nairobi will also play host to the circuit finale when the George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial 7s is held on 9 September.
First played in 1999, the National Sevens Circuit is an annual series of rugby sevens tournaments run by host clubs in conjunction with the Kenya Rugby Union featuring teams from across the country.
The 2022 National Sevens Circuit saw different winners for each circuit. KCB Rugby won the opening leg at Kabeberi Sevens, Strathmore Leos bagged the Christie Sevens, Mwamba ran away with the Driftwood title and Homeboyz gatecrashed the party at the Dala Sevens in Kisumu.
Teams compete for the National Sevens Circuit title by accumulating points based on their finishing position in each tournament. The season’s circuit currently comprises 6 tournaments in 5 cities and towns across Kenya.
