“Thank you Homeboyz Rugby for the 8 good years and to everyone who was part of the journey. I have loved being part of this family and the opportunities that it has given me and I look forward to being a supporter from the other side of the world,” he said.
“Thanks to all those people who welcomed me with so much love from the very first day I wore this jersey. For letting me experience the feeling of being a homeboy and allowing me to be part of this family all this time - Paul Murunga Amunavi and Simon Chöwder Odongo.
“I want you to know that I have always worked very hard and tried my best for this crest and this jersey. I wish you all the best Homeboyz Rugby and the success that I’m sure will come,” he added.
“I started club rugby with Homeboyz when I was in form 3. When we closed school, I used to play for them in the Eric Shirley Shield tournament - a second tier competition - until I finished school.
Their then head coach Paul Murunga, Simon Odongo and chairman Mike Rabar had approached me during the national games and told me to join them. So that is how the journey started,” he told Mozzart Sport in an earlier interview.
Wamalwa made his debut for the men’s national rugby 7s side Shujaa in April 2022 during the Rugby Africa Sevens competition that took place in Kampala, Uganda.
The player would go on to drop a series of dazzling performances in the 2022 National Sevens Circuit that saw him finish as the top points scorer and top try scorer at the conclusion of the season.
