In the first test of their South African tour, the Kenyan side was hoping to rub their shoulders against professional players who had been cherry picked from the Currie Cup championship by South African fans.

However, ten minutes in, the arduous task at hand revealed itself as the favourites crossed the whitewash on three occasions to get themselves up 19-0 as the difference in quality became evident.

In South Africas blistering start to the game, Kenya’s live wire in the game, Jone Kubu managed to get Kenya on the scoreboard as he successfully converted a penalty kick awarded to the team.

After thirty minutes of play where the South African side had completely dominated on every front and had gotten themselves up 31-3 by scoring two more tries, the ever green Kubu managed to get Kenya’s first try in the encounter as he finished off a great break through the middle before touching down over the tryline. The Fijian born Kenyan taking the scores to 31-10 after successfully converting his own try.

Aronos Coetzee and Stedman Gans ran in another two successfully converted tries for the team to get the scores to a 45-10 score by half time.

The second half proved to be a very much similar occurrence as the local side dominated possession and territory and bossed all the scoring opportunities. On the hour mark, Brian Tanga managed to get a rare second Kenyan try after some great interplay to get the game to a score of 66-17 at that point. By the time the hooter went off to signal the end of the game, the Champions team had run in two more tries to end the game at 85-17 and complete the rioting act.
