The two sides, who are both unbeaten, will be keen to make a statement of intent in the game that is always dubbed as a championship teaser
The last time KCB RFC and Kabras Sugar RFC came up against each other, one team wheeled away in utter delight after lifting an eighth Kenya Cup title to their name – a fourth consecutive - as another went back crying once again after failing to surmount the challenge despite having been in the advantaged position for a major part of the game.
That was back in September 2021 when Curtis Olago’s KCB stunningly came from behind to win 25-28 in a thrilling sudden-death extra time that was played at the Nandi Bears Club.
Since that final game of the season, Kabras have gone back to do what they always do – win every game. And on Saturday 26 February 2022, almost half a year later, they visit the Bankers at the KCB Sports Club in the last game of the 2021/2022 Kenya Cup regular season.
Although the stakes in the match may not be as high as the previous clash with both teams concentrated on the playoffs, the two sides, who are both unbeaten this season, will be keen to make just a slight statement of intent in the game that is always dubbed as championship teaser.
Heading into the clash, Kabras come into the game as the log leaders with a 100% unblemished streak having won all ten of their games with bonus points to go with them.
Reigning champions KCB sit in second, with nine wins and a draw that was imposed on them due to off-field circumstances against Blak Blad.
That time has come. Not just a game but “THE GAME.” See you then @RfcKabras .#lionheartedrugby pic.twitter.com/Kki2z4nM6m

Table positions notwithstanding, this clash always delivers. With no team willing to yield or to bow against the other.
In the teamsheet, both sides have made four changes to their starting squad. For Kabras, Felix Ayange moves to the bench while Jone Kubu will start at fullback. Collins Indeche drops to the bench and Kevin Wekesa is back in the back row where he joins skipper Dan Sikuta and Jeanson Musoga. George Nyambua has also been recalled to the starting squad in the second row.
