The team will be hoping to use the tournament as a build-up for the 2025 National Sevens Circuit, where the team will be hoping to keep the fine form going.

Fresh from a fourth-place finish in the 2024/2025 Kenya Cup season, Nondies RFC are set to claim another milestone.

This time, the Ngong Road-based side is set to feature in the inaugural Kampala International 7s tournament scheduled for Saturday, 31 May to Sunday, 1 June 2025, at the Kings Park Arena in Kampala, Uganda.

The tournament is organised by Ugandan Premiership outfit Jinja Hippos and is shaping up to be a key regional event ahead of the 2025 sevens season.

It is expected to attract top clubs across East Africa and beyond, providing an early platform for teams to test their mettle before domestic campaigns kick off.

Nondies are no strangers to Ugandan competition.

In October 2023, the Ngong Road side stunned home fans when they clinched the prestigious Kitaka 10s title at Legends Grounds, defeating Uganda 7s champions Black Pirates 5-0 in a tense final.

That win, which came in a tournament honouring Ugandan rugby legend Edward Kitaka, saw Nondies go unbeaten throughout.

Confirming their participation in this year’s Kampala event, Nondies posted a picture on their social media handles with the caption: “We will be in action at the Kampala International 7s on the 31st of May and 1st of June! See you there.”

The team will be hoping to use the tournament as a build-up for the 2025 National Sevens Circuit, where the team will be hoping to keep the fine form going.

With the circuit fast approaching, starting with the Driftwood 7s in Mombasa on Saturday, 26 to Sunday, 27 July and ending with the Dala 7s in Kisumu on Saturday, 13 to Sunday, 14 September, Kampala presents an ideal opportunity for Nondies to fine-tune their squad.

They finished sixth in the 2024 National Sevens Circuit with 68 points, an improvement from the 2023 circuit. They will be hoping to carry momentum into the new season.
