With the last round of matches played on 18 December 2021, the leagues are expected to resume on 8 January 2021 at the very earliest.

Rugby action in the country is set to take a three-week recess during the festive period across all the various Kenya Rugby Union leagues.

With the last round of matches played on 18 December 2021, the leagues are expected to resume on 8 January 2021 at the very earliest.

Over the weekend, the men’s and women’s Kenya Cup, the Championship and the nationwide leagues all took place as teams played for a final time in the coronavirus stricken 2021.

Closing off the year in the Kenya Cup, Kabras Sugar remained perched on top of the log as they maintained their unbeaten run in the four games played where they have managed to secure an extra bonus point in every win they have recorded so far. They jointly lead the table on 20 points alongside Menegai Oilers who have had an exact similar start to the Western-based rugby outfit.

At the bottom end of the log table, Resolution Impala Saracens occupy the last place having not recorded even a single point in their four opening games in what has been a difficult start to Oscar Osir’s tenure.

In the KRU Championship, newbies Shamas Foundation, who were only promoted from the nationwide league a couple of months ago, lead the log table on 11 points ahead of second-placed Mean Machine who have 10 points from three matches played.

In the Women’s Kenya Cup, Mwamba made it two wins from two with a 53-26 win over Ruck It as the Women’s Kenya Cup entered Matchday Two on Saturday 18 December 2021.

The day’s other fixture saw Yamanashi Impala Saracens make light work of Northern Suburbs with a 57-3 at the Ngong Racecourse while Topfry Nakuru were the beneficiaries of a 28-0 walkover result against Homeboyz.
