Speaking to Mozzart Sport after the match, KCB RFC playmaker Oscar Sorani, attributed the general good performance to a perfect pre-season, saying that the Lions were ready to roar to the finals stage.
“We had a very good preparations ahead of the season. We had good and bad days and we learnt from that and this time we want to go all out,” Sorani said.
On meeting Kabras RFC at home, Sorani expects a tough battle. Kabras will not only be enjoying an unbeaten season but also home advantage.
“It will definitely be a tough clash. We are going to give our all. We will look at the game we just had in the semis and the mistakes that we made. And again, it is a final, now we have to go all guns out,” he added.
The Bankers have had a pretty season too, and lost only a match against their weekend's opponents Kabras.
Despite that, their discipline has been wanting, and they will be keen to work on some areas like high tackles and be wary of the perimeter of play.
“There were a couple of penalties for offsides and the high tackles. We need to keep our discipline up and tackles low and look at the offside line, be wary of where we are on the pitch,” he continued.
Their indiscipline was so bad that during their final season match against Mean Machine they got 20 penalties, which according to Sorani is not the way to go for the team.
“We have talked about it for a while now. Especially that performance against Mean Machine which is not good for a team that wants to win a championship. Our discipline has been a bit poor,” he concluded.
This final will be the fourteenth meeting between the two top sides since they first clashed in 2014. Overall, KCB have won ten out of the 14 meetings. Curtis Olago's charges did not qualify for the final last season following a 24-17 loss to Menengai Oilers.
