KCB have had to dig deep to securedifficult wins after being tested to the core in their openig two games
KCB rugby head coach Curtis Olago is confident that his side will slowly hit top gear in this season’s rugby campaign after being tested to the core in their opening two games. The defending champions had to stage a spirited second half comeback to bat away Strathmore Leos challenge in the opening game of the season before hanging on late in the game to narrowly defeat Kenya Harlequin 35-32 in the second game.

The head coach however remains confident that his seven-time Kenya Cup winning side will slowly hit the strides that saw them lift last season’s trophy. He mentioned the blunders that his team put themselves in and the challenges that post Covid-19 has had on the players and the team.
“We made a couple of errors against Quins. We just put ourselves into problems that we were not supposed to get into. It’s something we are working on. Covid-19 really messed us up and we are trying to get to get our game back to where it was. It will come in small leaps and bounds but we have to be patient as a club and as a team,” he stated.

Despite being placed in second on the log, the head coach went on to state what his team needs to do if they are to get better this season.
“We are going to continue working hard to get better and better at what we do. We’ll go back to the training ground to correct the small mistakes that are still there. We just have to work on getting an eighty minute plus game,” he said.
KCB will be in rest mode this weekend as they will not feature in matchday three alongside Nondescripts RFC, Kabras Sugar, Masinde Muliro University and Strathmore Leos. They resume action next weekend in match day four against Blak Blad at the KCB Sports Club.
