The match is slated for Saturday 22 February at the KCB Sports Club with both team's 100% start to the season on the line

KCB RFC will be forced to navigate their crucial Kenya Cup clash against Menengai Oilers without several key players, including influential back Ian Omoke.

The match is slated for Saturday 22 February at the KCB Sports Club with both team's 100% start to the season on the line.

Omoke, a pivotal figure in coach Oliver Mang’eni’s squad, remains sidelined with a tibial fracture.

The dynamic playmaker underwent surgery in late January and is still on the road to recovery, ruling him out of the highly anticipated showdown.

The injury list does not stop there, as the Bankers are also missing Trevor Odawa, Oscar Simiyu, Nelson Nyandat, Dennis Waithaka, and Gabriel Namusasi, all of whom are still in rehabilitation.

Additionally, Floyd Wabwire, Samuel Asati, and Vincent Onyala are unavailable, having joined the national sevens team, Shujaa, for the Vancouver 7s in Canada.

Despite the setbacks, KCB remains firmly in contention for a home semi-final in the Kenya Cup playoffs.

With three rounds left in the regular season, the Bankers sit second on the log with 40 points, trailing leaders Kabras Sugar on points difference.

Speaking during a training session at the den, coach Mang’eni emphasized the team’s readiness despite the injury challenges.

“We’ve put in the hard work, and the team is fully focused on delivering a strong performance. The players are motivated, and we’re ready to take on the challenge ahead.

We expect a tough battle, so we must be ready in all departments," Mang'eni offered.

With a depleted squad, Mang’eni is expected to rely on Wilhite Mususi, Nick Okullo, Andy Cole Omollo, Jacob Ojee, and Emmanuel Opondo to lead the charge.

The Bankers will also bank on former Oilers players Davies Nyaundi, Erick Miheso, and Tyson Maina, who will be facing their former side in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

Menengai Oilers, who have been in strong form this season, will be eager to capitalize on KCB’s injury woes. The Oilers and KCB have not lost a single match this season and will be out to extend their winning streak.
