KCB Rugby announce departure of long-serving coach

Olago has been at the helm of the club since 2011, and now exits the stage having led the club to unparalleled success

KCB Rugby Club has officially announced the departure of Curtis Olago, their highly successful coach who has led the team to multiple Kenya Cup victories.

With Olago's contract set to expire at the end of August, the club has confirmed that it will not be renewed.

During his tenure at KCB Rugby, Olago achieved significant success, securing five Kenya Cup titles, two National Sevens Circuit titles, five Great Rift 10s championships, three Enterprise Cups, and numerous floodlit rugby titles.

"We confirm the departure of our head coach Curtis Olago after the expiration of his contract on August 31, 2024. This marks the end of an era for the coach who has been at the helm since 2011," the club stated.

Under Olago's guidance, the Bankers reached unparalleled heights, dominating the Kenya rugby scene.

His coaching tenure also included a stint as the assistant coach for the Kenya Fifteens national team and the Kenya U20 national team; Chipu coach.

Olago's legacy at KCB Lions is one of remarkable achievement and dominance. His strategic expertise led the team to an unbeaten record in the National Sevens Circuit for two consecutive years, with victories in 2014 and 2015.

He also guided the team to five Great Rift 10s titles and three Enterprise Cups.

"As KCB bids farewell to Olago, we acknowledge the significant impact he has had on the club and the broader rugby community in Kenya. His departure marks the end of a golden chapter filled with triumphs and an enduring legacy in the sport.

"KCB Lions extends its heartfelt gratitude to Coach Curtis Olago for his exemplary service and leadership over the past 13 years and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors," the club added.
