
KCB edge Kabras RFC to clinch 2023 Dala 7s

Strathmore Leos claimed bronze after edging out Kenya Harlequins 26-19 in the playoff
KCB RFC are the winners of the 2023 Dala 7s following their impressive 17-5 triumph over arch-rivals Kabras in the finals played at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on Sunday.
The result mean that Kabras have finally tasted defeat for the first time in the year after bowing to one of the fiercest opponent in the country.
The Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup holders headed to the final hoping to whip the bankers and secure the title as well as the bragging rights.
However, that was not going to happen as the Ruaraka based club unleashed their beast mode and carried the day.
Kabras won their last cup title during the 2022 Kakamega 7s where they defeated National 7s Circuit defending champions Menengai Oilers 19-7.
Further, the Sugarmen were aiming to start the 2023 NSC on positive note and enhance their chances of winning the coveted cup title they last won in 2017 in the Dala 7s.
The Felix Ayange-coached side was coming from a narrow 15-14 win over Kenya Harlequins in the semifinals.
KCB on the other hand came to the final keen to extend their winning streak. The bankers had defeated Strathmore Leos 31-0 in the semis to advance to this stage.
KCB won the 2019 Dala 7s where they defeated Menengai Oilers 30-5 in the final.
Flawless Strathmore Leos claimed bronze after edging out Kenya Harlequins 26-19 in the playoff match for third place Mwamba RFC came in at position five after seeing off Nakuru RFC 12-0.
Nondies RFC swallowed a humble pie after settling for the challenge trophy following a 12-10 win over Dala 7s hosts Kisumu RFC.
