The Bankers put varsity side Strathmore Leos to the sword in lifting the title.
National Sevens Circuit defending champions KCB RFC got the defense of their title off to the perfect start as they clinched the season opening George Mwangi Kabeberi 7s tournament held at the RFUEA Grounds on 21-22 May 2022 after defeating Strathmore Leos 12-10 in a closely contested finale.
Having not lost a group game in their their three pool A encounters on day 1, the Bankers, who were the first seeds in the Mwamba RFC hosted tournament, picked up where they left it on day one as they showed class, experience and often times superiority to lay their hands in the first 7s title on the land in 2022.

This is the 3rd time they are winning the title after lifting it in 2014 and 2008#Kabeberi7s | @kcbrugby pic.twitter.com/9YcV5fdnCv
In the game of two halves, KCB found themselves leading 12-0 at half time after two tries from Jacob Ojee and Bob Muhati gave them the advantage with Levy Amunga converting once.
A resilient Strathmore Leos however came out of the second half guns blazing after the half time team talk appeared to have inspired them to believe.
Despite Branson Madigu and Philemon Olang' managing to get back the two tries, poor conversion attempts saw the varsity side shoot themselves in the foot as they ended up succumbing 12-10 in a game that would have been different.
Congratulations @kcbrugby for the win, @strathleos27 that was an outstanding performance. FT: @kcbrugby 12 Vs @strathleos27 10 #Kabeberi7s
